This hackathon is mainly for high schoolers. Please email yash@helyxscience.org for age exceptions.

Who is running this hackathon?

This hackathon is presented by the The Helyx Initiative. Our organizing/coordinating staff contains experienced programmers and hackathon competitors to ensure that we can provide the best, most educational hackathon experience for you. More about our team can be found in the Team page.

Can I compete solo?

The coding community is very known for it's openess and collaboration, evident by concepts such as open source. We at Helyx have also first handedly experienced the importance of colaboration. Therefore, each competitor must have at least 1 partner. But, don't worry if you don't have one coming in! Our team will ensure that every competitor has a team, similar to our last hackathon!

What if I have never coded?

Don't worry at all! The Helyx Initiative and this hackathon's mission is to give everyone the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality through code. Therefore, we not only accept beginners, but we encourage them to join. Through our comprehensive workshops and constant mentorship, you will be more than ready to submit to our hackathon as well as take away some new programming knowledge!

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is a period of time in which competitors innovate new ideas and bring them to life through code. We will provide workshops, mentors, and more to ensure that you have a good coding experience and can express your ideas regardless.

What can I build?

You can build anything that relates to the secret theme that will be revealed on the day of the hackathon. When we say anything, we mean literally anything.

Where and when is the hackathon?

The hackathon is on December 4th - 7th, 2020. This hackathon is fully online. The main source of communication will be our Discord. This will act as sort of a "lobby" for the hackathon where we will send meeting links for different hackathon events and allow communication between peers, mentors, and organizers.
